Address: The Exchange Hotel - Corner King St and Lt Collins St - Melbourne City
Come after work for those city dwellers and have a drink and socialise at Melbourne city's sophisticated Exchange Hotel and learn some cool Salsa grooves...and now try out Bachata at 8.30PM for only $10 extra!

Costs: $16 casual ($140 / 10 session card)

I went Salsa dancing for the first time this week. Even though I play futsal every week, the sport does not particularly require the same level of hand-foot-head coordination. But thankfully there are guys who can lead the way and they know when to spin you...so all i did was follow their lead really. The class operates with the instructor teaching you two to three basic steps then everyone forms a circles in pairs. The music comes on and everyone practices the moves just taught. The class continues in the circle with new moves and new tricks. And you change partners ever so often so no worries about being stuck with the same guy.

It was great fun despite my lack of co-ordination and I will definitely give it another go the next time I'm in the city on a Tuesday night. Only word of warning: hand sanitizer is recommended because the guys can get a tad bit sticky after an hour of dancing.
