Battle of the Beauties

5th May marked the release of Chanel's short film Train de Nuit featuring Audrey Tautou. Now Dior has done the same with The Lady Noir Affair starring another French beauty, Marion Cotillard. The full film will be released later on this month but for a sneak peek, check out Chic Report.

Marion Cotillard - The face of Dior

Both equally beautiful women, both the face of luxury labels ...*sigh*, just can't pick a favourite.

Lucky Lily...

Lily Allen...rude songstress really. Her lyrics are inappropriate for children under the age of 15 but she's gorgeous (when she's not hungover with mascara running from her face). And she looks totally cool when she pairs sneakers with a ball gown - not something I can do.

I was recently informed she was big in the sneaker's scene and as a result of her love for shoes, Lily's MySpace network got a taste of her musical talent before the rest of the world. And now, she's said to be one of Karl Largefeld's muses. Invited by the big man to front his shows, she will soon be the new face of Chanel's next handbag campaign which, might I add, will be shot himself! Now that's one girl we'd all love to hate!

So excited that I forgot to give this post a title...oopps. No. 5 maybe?

It is here!...The new Chanel No.5 commercial *girls will most definitely approve of the touch of romance* :)

The gorgeous Audrey Tautou is also starring in the upcoming biopic of Coco Chanel which focuses on the designer's early life...cannot wait!

No. 5

Paris is one city I have yet to visit. I love french things...french food, french fries, I'll go watch a French movie solo and I even tried learning French! It will have to be on my to-do list...

The city of romance...

One of my favorite French movies is Amelie who is played by Audrey Tatou. Her character might be regarded as eccentric by some but I'm quite sure there is a bit of Amelie in all of us. We all at some point in our lives throw stones to watch them skim across the water or pick up our spoons to crack the top of creme brulee. And I've always wanted to guide a blind man across the road, though I've never been brave enough to try.

A scene from Amelie

I've watched a few other films by Tatou, but none of them touch my heart quite like Amelie does. So you can imagine how excited I was this morning when I read that she would collaborate once again with Jean-Pierre Jeunet (director of Amelie) to film a new commercial for Chanel (another great love of mine).

The previous commercial was directed by Baz Luhrmann featuring Nicole Kidman and is reportedly the most expensive advertisement ever. It also featured the oh-so-hot Rodrigo Santoro.

Audrey has some pretty big shoes to fill, but I have no doubt she will do so in typical Chanel style...

The Sipadan Special: Pearls of Wisdom

Pulau Sipadan, Malaysia

I've heard stories describing how beautiful and exotic this island is but have yet to experience the world down under myself. Famous for the corals and clear waters, Sipadan is a popular destination for scuba divers. On a friend’s recent trip, she returned with strands of pretty pearls to feed my jewellery addiction.

Coco Chanel

Lustrous pearls have been considered objects of beauty for centuries, so how can we not love them? The word itself has become a metaphor for sophistication, adorning the likes of Coco Chanel and Jacquline Kennedy.

Spring/Summer ’09 abroad is stacking on the layers of pearls. Here are some unique pieces for you to set the trend wherever you are…(available from www.u-fhern.com)
