Foxtel decided to stop working and the internet went into shut down mode. I think everything was trying to tell me to hit the books instead of being distracted. So I relocated myself to my bedroom where I actually had a study space set up in preparation for the great CA adventure. But the desk only came into use two days before the exam.
Luckily (or maybe not so luckily), my desk looks out the window onto the main road. And I tell you, there are many observations you can make just so you don't have to study. I remember my Business Studies teacher telling me how when he was doing his IGCSEs, he spent an hour watching a bird on the window sill...
And I also remember reading an article about how the most surprising people (e.g.: a taxi driver) can tell you more about your relationship with your partner. So I decided to put this to the test...
I noticed a mummy driving her SVU putting on lipgloss with three boys in the back and a cute little doggy in the front seat who she then turned around to pat and kiss. How she manages a dog AND three boys at the same time, I have no idea.
I noticed a woman frantically throwing her arms around and the male driver just looking out the window unmoved - not a good sign.
Then I saw a lady trying to hold her man's hand in the car at the lights...he just pulled away and flipped through some papers - *sigh*.
There are usually more exciting incidents on my corner...In the same week I saw a man capsicum sprayed and arrested, another man walking around half naked, intoxicated and then arrested and boys running down the street pushing over all the rubbish bins only later to see them back with a policewoman and a broom to clear up the mess - at least I know the police act fast here.
Though my more recent observations may not have been quite as exciting, they were enough to drown me a few minutes of distraction :)
