Quack Quack...

I would like to introduce to you my kinetic toys which I bought from the Antiques Market in Beijing. The stall owners claim they are older than I am, but you never really know in China. As a result of striking a conversation with the owners to practice my Chinese, I found out that their brother has a shop in Richmond (or maybe Footscray - somewhere predominantly Vietnamese anyway) which sells similar toys! What a small world :)

They were the subject of of this week's photography assignment. They aren't great, but kudos to me for attempting homework. I have been struggling to snap for the last 5 weeks? I'm trying to do a juggling act and I must say I definitely need more practice. Just when you think you got it right, everything falls apart...oh wells (life can suck)...but when a dose of childhood finds it's way to me, it can put a smile on my face because sometimes I wish I was back there, young and carefree...

The aim of the assignment is to photograph a small object by the window where daylight is filtering through. It is evident my windows need a clean but how lovely do the autumn leaves look? Maybe they'll be my next subject...enjoy!

Slightly dark with some shadows

Fixed with flash fill

Slight shadows but I think it gives the photo a softer touch

Flash fill - there is light where it was slightly dark before, but *yikes* at the robot's teeth!
