My goal is to make the whole place a little more livable and less cluttered. With the recession kicking into gear, home is definitely where I have been spending most of my free time. Especially when I got this pretty chair for my birthday...

It's called a 'Wing Chair' and every time I visit the store, I'll settle into it as if I were in my own home. When the store was rearranged so this lovely piece of furniture faced the main street, I would still sit there as if I were part of the decoration. I got it for my birthday from Big Bear and it was definitely a practical gift indeed and what steered me towards Project: Redecoration!
Over the next couple of weeks (or months), I'll be slowly redecorating my apartment. Here are a few budget-friendly tips if you're moving to a new place or just want to create a different look at home:
Cool Colours
Throw coloured cushions onto your bed or sofa to brighten things up. You can change the covers seasonally with pastels for the warmer months and dark deeper colours for the colder months.
Photo Time
Put up more photos around the place. It'll keep you happy as you're constantly reminded of the good times and it'll give your home a cozier feel.
Shop for a bargain
During these difficult times, furniture stores would rather give a discount than lose out on a sale. So try your luck at bargaining.
Tip: If you do shop for furniture, try not to leave too much down as deposit. Most will agree to a small amount so that they can close the sale. Its unfortunate but because of the current economy, poor performing businesses might disappear overnight so exercise caution especially if you're buying from smaller stores.
Rug Up
Add a rug into the room. It'll be perfect especially as the days get colder and it'll help define an area.
Move it move it!
Move things around. A simple move will create a fresh new look for your home. Move things in and out of different rooms or rearrange the layout of your room.
My first redecoration purchase (still waiting on delivery):

The Rupert
I hope as manly as the name suggests, The Rupert will be a gentleman and hide my jewellery mess. I'll be posting up my redecoration project as I go along. So keep checking back to see how I go! xo
